Balancing activities: a unit-planning game
The unit-planning game is designed to encourage participants to think about and discuss reasons for lesson planning decisions. Planning is the stage at which a teacher interprets the syllabus for his or her students and makes decisions about what activities would be suitable for them. A major decision for the classroom teacher is how to sequence such activities, and the main aim of the game is to involve participants in designing a balanced programme of activities over a unit (a series of lessons). One version of the game is shown and discussed here.
