As the result of an editorial oversight, an artide by Gerry Abbott was published in ELT Journal Volume 40 Number 4 (October 1986) under the title ‘A new look at phonological redundancy’, but appeared in the Index to Volume 40 under its original title of ‘Phonological redundancy in language learning: some misconceptions’. Gerry Abbott wishes it to be known that he prefers the original title. We apologize to him and to readers for any confusion that may have arisen as a result of this oversight.
