English: an advantage to India?

Mark Tully

Born in India, and worked for the BBC in Delhi as Chief of Bureau for over 20 years, until he became their South East Asia Correspondent in 1993. He still lives in Delhi, and now works as a freelance writer and broadcaster.

This is an edited version of the Oxford University Press/BBC Lecture given at the English-Speaking Union, London, and broadcast on the BBC World Service in February 1996.
